The Impact Insulation Class is a single-number rating of the effectiveness a floor-ceiling assembly has at attenuating the transmission of impact sound.  IIC ratings are determined per ASTM E492.  The higher an IIC rating, the better.  The International Building Code calls for a minimum IIC rating of 50.

Aloha, Im currently researching more info on IIC rating so my customer can reach a standard by the Home Owners Association for her condo. They asked her to reach a rating of IIC 85 with combined material. She is looking to remove carpet and put in click-lock laminate. How can I make this happen?
